Laser Hair Removal Machines: Candela vs Soprano ice

Candela vs Soprano Ice

What’s the difference between Candela and Soprano laser hair removal?

With over 15 years in the aesthetic industry and 25 years of combined experience in laser hair removal services, one of the most frequent questions we get asked by our clients is the difference between laser machines. Our skin consultants and practitioners have experience with both Candela and Soprano Ice laser technologies, and below is explained the comparison and suitability of both machineries for the best results for you.

Candela Gentle Max Pro laser:

Who should use this laser?  Because it has two wavelengths, it is suitable for all skin tones. The Alexandrite is for fair skin types 1-3 on the Fitzpatrick scale. For darker skin types 4-6, use the NDYag.

Not suitable for blonde, red, or grey hair.

Treatment recommended: 6-s sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

Cooling system: The cryogen cooling system on the Candela circulates cool air throughout the procedure; the temperature can be changed to make it more comfortable throughout your laser hair removal treatment without feeling the heat.

+ Alexandrite is one of the quickest methods available, with a longer wavelength suitable for a wide range of skin tones.

+ ND:Yag longer wavelength makes it suitable and safe for darker skin types and gives optimum results to destroy hair at the base of the hair follicle without damaging the skin.

– Due to its high melanin absorption, if you have a tan on the area, you will have to have another patch test to ensure there is no risk to the skin.

Soprano Ice laser technology

Who is suitable for this laser: Fair to medium skin tones. Not suitable for dark skin tones.

Not suitable for Fine hair, blonde, red or grey hairs.

Treatment recommended: 12-15 treatments with 8-12 weeks in between.

Cooling system: The Soprano has a cool tip which means the handpiece is metal which creates a cooling effect and glides on the skin with the gel applied.

+ There is a chance of skin harm when using the alexandrite laser on people with fair skin and darker hair.

– Because the Diode is a more recent technology, darker skin types typically need more treatments. In comparison to other lasers, there is not enough data to support the long-term results.

At Derma Revive Skin Clinic we use the FDA approved Gentle Max Pro by Syneron Candela for laser hair removal, which is the safest and most effective laser hair removal technology available.
