About M22

The Stellar M22 is an FDA-cleared system with four light-based technologies that treat a broad range of skin concerns, from lines and wrinkles to age spots and freckles, broken blood vessels,  acne and tattoo removal.  Lumenis, the inventor of Intense Pulse Light (IPL), has recently released the 6th generation of their Multi-Application IPL platform called the M22 Stellar.

The M22 Stellar builds on the success of the original M22, a gold-standard which has raised the bar and sets a new benchmark for skin treatments and results. This device provides better and quicker patient results than the original M22. The technology has been upgraded and speed and reliability have also improved.

The M22 Stellar can treat a wide range of skin conditions such as:

  • Vascular (Rosacea, Broken Capillaries, & Thread veins)
  • Pigmentation (Sun damage, freckles, sun spots)
  • Skin Rejuvenation
  • Laser Tattoo Removal
  • Stretch Marks
  • Skin Resurfacing

This is an FDA approved system treating a wide range of skin concerns such as lines, wrinkles, age spots, freckles, broken blood vessels, acne and tattoo removal.  This means that more than 30 skin concerns can be conveniently and effectively treated in a single visit to Derma revive.

Developed by Lumenis, the Stellar M22 device offers trge following treatment technologies:

  • Intense pulsed light (IPL), also referred to as photofacial.  This would be targeted at a variety of skin concerns, including excess pigmentation—like age spots, sunspots, freckles, and melasma—and redness from broken capillaries and rosacea.
  • ResurFX, commonly used to treat hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, stretch marks, and mild acne scars by its non-ablative laser technology.
  • Multi-Spot Nd:YAG, could treat vascular lesions (like broken capillaries) and varicose veins in the legs by its non-ablative laser technology.
  • Q-switched Nd:YAG, can treat removal of pigmented lesions and dark tattoos, using it non-ablative laser technology

Why M22 Stellar?

Previously untreatable conditions can now be treated by the M22 Stellar. This is thanks to its industry-leading technology. It has set a new standard for skin rejuvenation.

Addressing over 30 skin conditions from stretch marks to thread veins, the results speak for themselves.

The Stellar IPL has multiple settings and therefore is safe to use on a variety of skin types.

Each treatment takes 15–30 minutes, depending on the concern being treated and size of the area.

The device is low risk in causing skin damage by administering an inbuilt cooling system on the skin between pulses.  You shouldn’t feel pain except possibly a stinging sensation like a rubber band snapping.

Derma Revive Skin Clinic recommends a series of treatments, typically spaced between four and six weeks apart, for optimal results.

ResurFX is a skin resurfacing laser that administers heat to stimulate the production of collagen, to rejuvenate skin using its non-ablative technology. It is used to address the following concerns:

  • – Enlarged pores
  • – Fine lines and wrinkles, such as vertical lip lines around the mouth and crow’s-feet
  • – Sun-damaged skin, including brown spots related to sun exposure
  • – Mild acne scarring

ResurFX requires just one pass, creating controlled microdamage (6% on average) so each treatment session is quick (only 15–30 minutes). The technology delivers continuous contact cooling to keep you comfortable during treatment, minimising side effects and downtime.

There is a possibility of a little swelling in the treatment area for a day or two, followed by some slight inflammation for up to five days.  But you can apply makeup twenty-four hours later, and return to your daily activities right away.

Immediate improvement will be seen by the patient, but three to six sessions are usually recommended. The cumulative effect of the treatment and benefits can be seen six months after the last treatment as new collagen and elastin develop.

Q-switched Nd:YAG is a laser used to erase unwanted dark tattoo ink and pigmented lesions (like brown spots).

The Q-switched laser’s focus is attracted to and the short pulse of energy is absorbed into the ink pigment or melanin in spots causing that area of melanin/pigment to break down, leaving surrounding areas unharmed.

The treatments are customised according to the patients’ type of pigment being treated.

Multiple sessions may be required to achieve optimal results, however every session will result in a reduction.
